2026 WCQ: We’ll Give Our All to Defeat Benin — Troost-Ekong

Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong, has assured fans that the team is mentally and physically ready to give their all as they face the Cheetahs of Benin Republic in today’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

Nigeria, sitting third in Group C with 14 points from nine games, must defeat Benin Republic and hope South Africa slip up against Rwanda to keep their qualification hopes alive.

Speaking during a pre-match press conference, Troost-Ekong admitted that qualification is not entirely within their control but vowed that the Super Eagles will fight till the final whistle.

“We know the situation — not everything depends on us,” he said. “But we’ll give it everything to get the victory. Every player here is motivated — some want to make a name for themselves, others want to etch their names in history. We’re ready to fight and play for the badge.”
