A massive fire has again torn through the Singer Market in Kano State’s Gidan Gilas area, destroying shops and goods worth billions of naira, affecting over 1,000 businesses and leaving at least seven people missing in one of the busiest commercial hubs. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf visited the still-raging scene and appealed to the Federal Government for urgent help with modern firefighting equipment, including air support, to strengthen fire response and prevent future disasters. He praised local fire services and urged calm among traders and residents as efforts continued to contain the blaze.
President Bola Tinubu has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the cause of the repeated fires and designated a federal delegation to Kano to express sympathy and offer support.
