Governor Makinde presents Staff and Certificate of Office to Alaafin Owoade

Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has officially presented the staff and certificate of office to Prince Akeem Abimbola Owoade, marking his formal ascension as the 46th Alaafin of Oyo.

The presentation ceremony, held on Monday, January 13, at the Government House in Agodi, Ibadan, emphasized the Alaafin’s significance as both a traditional ruler and a custodian of Oyo’s rich history and culture.

Governor Makinde expressed confidence in Oba Owoade’s leadership, highlighting his potential to guide the Oyo kingdom with wisdom, integrity, and a dedication to unity.

In his acceptance speech, the newly crowned Alaafin expressed gratitude to the people of Oyo and pledged to focus on the kingdom’s progress and residents’ welfare.

Oba Owoade succeeds Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, who ruled for an impressive 51 years before his passing. The Oyo State government announced Oba Owoade’s appointment last Friday.
