Jandor Claims Peter Obi’s Influence Cost Him Victory Against Sanwo-Olu

Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, the PDP governorship candidate for Lagos State in the 2023 general election, has attributed his loss to what he describes as the “Peter Obi effect.”

In a recent interview, Jandor stated that despite his extensive campaign efforts, the unexpected surge of support for Obi and the Labour Party significantly impacted the election’s outcome.

“We did everything, but that wave came and swallowed the whole thing. Nobody saw that coming,” he remarked.

When asked if he believed he would have won the election without Peter Obi’s influence in the presidential race, Jandor confidently responded, “Absolutely. I probably would have won the governorship election. The 2023 election came with this Tsunami that nobody ever expected, and it was there for everybody to see.”

In the governorship election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the incumbent governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner with 762,134 votes. He was followed by Labour Party’s Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, who garnered 312,329 votes, while Jandor finished third with 62,449 votes.
