Portable Granted Bail by Abeokuta Magistrate Court Over Assault Charges

Zaazoo Zeh crooner, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been granted bail by the Isabo Magistrate Court in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The singer was arraigned before the court on multiple charges, including conspiracy, assault, obstruction, and conduct likely to cause public harm. According to the prosecution, Portable and his associates allegedly attacked government officials, obstructing their duties while armed with cutlasses and guns.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges, alongside nine of his aides, who were also arraigned for similar offenses. The co-defendants include Nurudeen Warris (21), Adetola Alashe (25), Samuel Adeleke (28), Oluwaseun Ayenuwa (19), Oluwapelumi Adeosun (20), Gospel Kanu (20), Precious Ohiegebo (19), Ifeoluwa Babatunde (27), and Fatimo Muhammed (26).

The prosecution alleged that Portable and his associates assaulted three town planning officers—Abidemi Onabanjo, Ramon Lateef, and Akinpelumi Oyero—while they were carrying out their lawful duties at Odogwu Bar, a property owned by the singer.

Portable’s lawyer, Oluwatoyin Ayodele, pleaded with the court to grant him bail, stating that the singer had become remorseful and learned his lesson from the ordeal.

Magistrate O.L. Oke granted him bail in the sum of ₦2 million with one surety in like sum. The case has been adjourned until March 5 for trial.
