Tinubu Woos Wike To Joining APC Amid PDP Turmoil

President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday extended a public invitation to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), saying the party remains open to receiving him.
Tinubu made the remarks during the commissioning of the Arterial Road N16 (Shehu Shagari Way) linking Ring Road One (Nnamdi Azikiwe Way) to Arterial Road N20 (Wole Soyinka Road), along with several other roads in the Katampe District of Abuja.
Praising Wike for his performance as FCT Minister, Tinubu said: “With Wike, APC will continue to be in a joyous mood while our rivals will continue to writhe in pain.”
Wike, a prominent member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been the subject of widespread speculation over a potential defection to the APC, particularly following his controversial role in the 2023 general elections and his appointment in the Tinubu administration.
The PDP continues to grapple with deep-seated leadership crises that began in the run-up to the 2023 polls, with internal divisions threatening to weaken its national cohesion.
While Wike has not officially declared any intention to switch parties, President Tinubu’s comments appear to leave the door wide open for a political realignment ahead of the 2027 elections.
