The Kwara G15, a coalition of prominent stakeholders within the All Progressives Congress (APC), has reaffirmed its commitment to the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election while declaring its intention to chart a new political direction in Kwara State ahead of the general elections.
The position was announced during the Kwara G15 Town Hall Engagement with APC Stakeholders, held at Arca Santa Arena in Ilorin. The event brought together members of the G15, party elders, stakeholders, elected officials and loyal APC members from across the state.
Addressing participants, the coalition reiterated that its support for President Tinubu remains unwavering. However, the group expressed dissatisfaction with the current political situation within the Kwara APC, alleging that the party has drifted from the principles of inclusion, fairness and internal democracy.
According to the G15, while it remains fully committed to President Tinubu’s re-election bid, it will not automatically extend the same support to other APC candidates in Kwara State whom it believes no longer enjoy the confidence of party members and stakeholders.
The coalition said the decision reflects its resolve to restore what it described as the original ideals that inspired the OTOGE movement and to reposition the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
During the meeting, two major motions were unanimously adopted. The first reaffirmed the coalition’s support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, while the second officially launched the OTOGE Progressive Agenda, described as a renewed commitment to fairness, inclusion, internal democracy, accountability and progressive governance.
The motions reportedly received the backing of the three serving senators representing Kwara State, a development widely seen as strengthening the political influence of the G15 within the state’s APC structure.
A press briefing following the meeting was led by Senator Yahaya Ibrahim Oloriegbe, while Barrister Salman Jawondo, SAN, translated the address into Yoruba to ensure wider understanding among stakeholders and grassroots supporters.
The latest development comes amid growing internal disagreements within the Kwara APC. The G15, made up of governorship aspirants, serving senators and other influential party stakeholders, has consistently criticized the state party leadership over what it describes as a lack of inclusiveness and internal democracy.
The coalition had earlier relaunched the OTOGE movement in Ilorin, pledging to revive the founding principles that propelled the APC to victory in Kwara State in 2019. It also warned that unresolved internal grievances could affect the party’s electoral fortunes ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The town hall engagement marks another significant milestone in the ongoing political realignment within the Kwara APC, with the G15 positioning itself as a major force in shaping the party’s future in the state.
