Plateau Governor Rewards Pilgrim ₦1m for Returning Lost $5,000 During Hajj

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has honored Zainab Idris, a pilgrim from the state, with ₦1 million for her honesty after she found and returned $5,000 belonging to a Tajikistani pilgrim during the 2025 Hajj in Saudi Arabia.

The governor, represented by the Executive Secretary of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Dayyabu Dauda, presented the cash reward to Idris at the board’s office, commending her integrity and good conduct. He noted that the gesture was both a show of appreciation and support for her business.

Governor Mutfwang also recognized Malam Ayuku, another pilgrim, who was gifted a new phone for returning a lost iPhone during the same pilgrimage.

“We are proud of these pilgrims; they have proven themselves as true ambassadors of Plateau State,” Dauda said. “The governor urges all citizens to emulate their honesty and good character wherever they find themselves.”

In her response, Idris expressed deep gratitude to the governor, describing him as “a father figure” and noting that the reward would greatly help her business.
