A mobile police officer serving under Operation Restore Peace has lost his life after armed bandits ambushed him in Adabka village, Bukkuyum LGA of Zamfara State.
The attack happened at about 11:44 a.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. The officer, deployed from Mopol 15 in Ilorin, was travelling from his duty post in Adabka to Tibis village to buy essential supplies when he was intercepted.
According to security sources who spoke with Zagazola Makama, the bandits were hiding along the outskirts of Adabka and struck unexpectedly. They fired at the officer and made away with his service riot gun.
A field response team later arrived at the location and evacuated the officer’s remains to the Adabka Primary Health Care Centre for official procedures.
Sources indicated that the style of the ambush mirrors tactics commonly used by bandit groups associated with the Dan-Karama Gwaska and Dansadau networks, known for quick surprise attacks and swift escape.
In another incident, bandits also took the life of a well-known community elder, Malam Sabiu Mai Shayi Tsafe, after abducting him and his son, Nura Sabi’u, from their farm on the outskirts of Tsafe LGA.
Journalist Bakatsine reported that Malam Sabiu was discovered dead on November 24 after his family paid the ransom demanded. The whereabouts of his son are still uncertain.
“The entire community has been thrown into mourning,” Bakatsine said, noting rising concern over continuous attacks, especially on farmers whose livelihoods depend on safe access to their land. “As these incidents increase, people in the North West are asking what the future holds for those simply trying to work and live peacefully.”
