The All Progressives Congress (APC) has suffered a setback in the House of Representatives as two of its lawmakers have officially switched allegiance to other political parties.
Speaker Abbas Tajudeen announced the defections during plenary, revealing that Abubakar Zango, who represents the Yola North, Yola South, and Girei Federal Constituency of Adamawa State, has left the APC to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Similarly, Rabilu Bala, the lawmaker representing Jama’are/Itas-Gadau Federal Constituency of Bauchi State, has resigned from the APC and moved to the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).
In separate letters addressed to the House and read during the session, both lawmakers stated that their decisions followed extensive consultations with their constituents and were guided by personal conviction. They said the defections were aimed at better promoting the welfare and interests of the people they represent.
