The Lagos State Police Command has launched an inquiry into a suspicious package containing live ammunition that was delivered to the Managing Director of FirstBank, Oluwasegun Alebiosu.
Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday at the command headquarters, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, confirmed that detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to Fatai, the matter was officially reported on May 7, 2026, after Alebiosu discovered two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition hidden inside a parcel that had been delivered to him.
The police commissioner explained that the package was first received by the bank executive’s security aide before being passed on to him.
“The Managing Director alerted the police after finding two live 7.62mm ammunition rounds concealed in a parcel that had been collected on his behalf. Investigations are ongoing, and the command is handling the matter with utmost seriousness,” Fatai stated.
Sources close to the case revealed that the package was delivered to Alebiosu’s residence in the Ikoyi area of Lagos by a dispatch rider. Authorities are currently working to establish the origin of the parcel and identify those responsible.
