Katsina LG Chairman Engages Armed Groups as Trump Issues Military Action Warning

The Chairman of Funtua Local Government Area in Katsina State, Hon. Abdu Goya, has reportedly held a peace dialogue with armed groups accused of engaging in banditry within the region.

According to SaharaReporters, the meeting — which took place in parts of Funtua — was part of a renewed effort to strengthen peace between the Hausa communities and armed Fulani factions long involved in violent clashes.

Goya’s visit, coming amid rising diplomatic tension sparked by U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent military threat and Nigeria’s designation as a “country of particular concern” over alleged religious persecution, was described as an attempt to promote reconciliation and understanding among the feuding groups.

During the engagement, the local government chairman emphasized the importance of dialogue, trust-building, and cooperation to sustain lasting peace. He also appealed for the release of persons who had been kidnapped during earlier waves of violence.

Goya reportedly stated that his mission was to reinforce the ongoing peace process and ensure that the fragile calm achieved between the armed Fulani and Hausa residents continues to grow stronger.
